Know your Planning rules
Whether you are a resident or a professional such as an urban planner,
architect or developer, planning information is essential to making
informed decisions about your neighbourhood. Data such as planning zones,
building heights, and property details enable professionals to navigate
the regulatory landscape and planning process efficiently, fostering
better engagement and transparency with the community over urban
planning decisions.
Understand the Environment
Access to information about environmental conservation allows residents to foster a
greater sense of environmental awareness that encourages more impactful conservation efforts.
For professionals such as researchers, conservationists, and urban planners,
it provides a valuable tool to assess the health of our ecosystems, identify areas of
ecological significance, and implement strategies for biodiversity and sustainable
management. Together, we can enable all members of the community to participate and advocate for
greater accountability in enforcing regulation and environmental protection
measures.
Prepare for Hazards
Access to hazard infomration such as flood, bushfire, and landslide potential is essential
for public safety and risk awareness. As a resident it allows you to understand the
risks associated with your location, providing invaluable knowledge for
making informed purchase and investment decisions, and enabling you to take appropriate measures
to mitigate risks. As a professional, whether an emergency responder, urban
planner, or local authority, hazard information is essential in implementing
safety measures and procedures to effectively respond to emergencies. Hazard information is critical
for disaster preparedness and response, and coordinating resources to minimise the
impact of these events on the community.

Flood Depth Mapping
Use the slider below for a demonstration of flood depth (m) mapping
based upon the latest flood modelling for a rare (1% AEP) flood event
in the Year 2100.
The Flood Depth Mapping is an example of 1 of 3 measures that are used
by local government for characterising flood hazard risk.
Flood overlay maps developed utilising the latest topographic,
land use and hydrological data. This mapping considers future
changes to climate incorporating a projected increase in sea
level 0.8m, above present day levels by 2100. It also includes
the State Governments projected 10% storm tide intensity and
10% rainfall intensity.
Flood overlay mapping identifies the properties that may be
affected by a designated flood event and acts as a trigger for
development assessment. The mapping reflects a flood event that
has a 1% chance of occurring in any one year, also referred to
as a one in 100 year ARI (Average Recurrence Interval) flood event.
